Day two in the Kendall residence and we are up early and driving into town. Russ asks me questions about my life with The Alarm and we get to talking about ‘VH1 Band’s Reunited’. It was quite a programme to be involved in and Russ is interested to hear how we were ‘set up’ by VH1 in advance.

I spend some time in one of the edit suites with the team and we take pictures and work out some plans and deadlines to aim for.

Russ and I go for dinner together and on the way home Russ takes me on the scenic route via Bridal Vale which features a spectacular Waterfall complete with jumping fish where the river hits valley floor. It’s straight to bed when we finally reach the house my wake up call is set for 3:00 AM.

Provo – July 08

A busy day in the offices of Kaleidoscope Pictures. I am given my own office to be able to catch up with everything that I have going on in my life right now. A lot. I get to meet all the staff who are beginning work on the project called ‘Love Hope Strength’. It’s going to be another interesting adventure. In between meetings Russ and I chat over the phone with rest of the entire executive director team of Alex Coletti, James Chippendale, Stasj Silonski. It’s an exciting time ahead. We leave the office and get back to Russ’s amazing hilltop home in time for dinner. Later that evening I sit out on the porch which overlooks all of Utah… it’s amazing view.

I have a guitar and the music flows…. where does it come from I wonder….. I have my iPhone and commit this fledging new creation to hard drive and another piece of my soul finds it’s way into the world. There’s an album brewing…. I can feel it!

Salt Lake City – July 07

Pull into the hotel off interstate 15 in Salt Lake City and right beside us is a waterpark – Cawabunga Bay. As anyone knows all the best rock and roll bands love a watermark. I FaceTime the kids and show them the world’s largest bucket of water tipping gallons of water over the bathing suited adventurers.

It’s amazing to be able to ‘show’ my boys where in the world I am and walk around the bus with my phone connected to the internet all in real time face to face communication. I remember the days when you had to book a call home from the tour and still had to rely on the written word and postcards to communicate with your loved ones back home. Cawabunga Bay here we come!!!!!!!

After hours in the sun I get picked up by Russ Kendall from Kaleidoscope Pictures (Russ directed The Song That Changed My Life documentary). Russ is taking me to Provo, Utah to work through some of the production details of the Love Hope Strength movie that is in the works.

Russ had kindly arranged for a barbecue at his home and I get to spend sometime with his wonderful family and friends and members of the Kaeleidoscope family.

As Russ is a musician also, it’s not long before the guitars are out and a call is made for ‘Walk Forever By My Side’. Who am I to refuse…..
